Post & Gate Setup
Gate Installation

Measure onsite the OVERALL length where you want your new DIY Sliding Gate to go:

IMPORTANT: You MUST have sufficient room for your sliding Gate to fully open. To work this out we will use the centre of post locations to calculate dimensions:

  1. Gate Catch End = 200mm to centre of post
  2. Main Gate Opening = Min width of 3250mm, Max width of 7930mm (measured centre to centre of posts)
  3. Gate Track End = (“Main Gate Opening Dimension” + 730mm) to centre of post

⊕ Min Total Space Required = 7,430mm

⊕ Max Gate Space Required = 16,790mm

ADDITIONAL TIPS

⊕ Motor operated gates require 400mm of extra width to protrude past the Track End Post
⊕ Manual operated gates require 200mm of extra width protrude past the Track End Post
⊕ All gates require approx. 105mm of extra width to protrude past the Catch End Post
⊕ Standard Gate Kit = 4260mm Wide
⊕ Extension Panels = 1260mm or 2100mm Wide
⊕ Total Max Overall gate width = 8500mm Wide
⊕ Bottom Track Length = ((Full Gate Width – 500mm) x2) + 400mm

There are a few simple details required to install your Sliding Gate successfully:

  • Posts MUST have a 200mm Space between them, this allows the (Post Tunnel Joiners) to fit perfectly (you can temporary install the post tunnel joiners to support posts in place)
  • The track is required to go on flat level concrete. The anchor pins used to hold the track down are approx. 38mm Long
  • Typically the track starts at the post of the Gate Catch End.
  • The track stops 100mm before the Track Sliding Gate Stop

IMPORTANT:
If width adjustment of the gate is required, do not cut at the first or middle panel joins.  Always adjust width by cutting at the gate end with the removable vertical stile.

  • Once your gate width is planned, it is best to mark down centre positions of your posts on the ground and remeasure again.
  • When installing the gate, make sure you have sufficient hands on site. The assembled gates are very heavy and need to be stood up and lifted onto the bottom track.
  • A fork lift or crane arm is recommended, otherwise 4 people are required at least.
  • Make sure the posts are cemented in or bolted down with well anchored bolts and everything has 100% set
  • Make sure bottom track is installed securely, well fixed and centred between post tunnels.
Install the Vertical Stile Extension to easily reach an electric drive unit to automatically open and close the gate.
